One Thurrock

Thurrock and its respective rural and urban communities have a deep and rich history based on its location in the Thames estuary, acting as a focal point for leisure and commerce for over five hundred years. Being part of the Thames Gateway regeneration area, Thurrock is set to grow and change rapidly, and Thurrock's identity and purpose will need to evolve with this.

Thurrock's history is one of the borough’s proudest accolades. The path of British history can be traced through the heart of Thurrock, from royalty and naval warfare to piracy and prehistoric wildlife. It was at Tilbury marshes that Queen Elizabeth I addressed her troops prior to defeating the Spanish Armada.

Thurrock is an amazing place to live and work. The area provides a welcome to all its residents and visitors. We are aiming to build a community that lives in harmony with each other and welcomes visitors. This means ensuring our festival gives opportunities for residents to celebrate their locality, and also opportunities for the involvement of young people, whilst celebrating the rich heritage of Thurrock.

Our festival is about our most important resource - our residents and our amazing community. T-Fest celebrates what we have in common, sharing and learning about our differences through the arts and music and building a cohesive Thurrock for all to live and visit.
